I am the sister of a man convicted of second degree murder and serving a life sentence in the Louisiana State Penitentiary. He has experienced treatment from prison employees that is cruel and probably not legal. During visits, we have been treated poorly by the prison staff, also. We need prison reform. I hope this blog helps at least one inmate, changes policy, and treatment in at least one prison.
Note to My Readers
I have this blog listed as having adult content due to the nature of the crime involved and the language in the letters. I do not censor anything here except when I post my private journal entries. The private journal entries from my personal LiveJournal are only edited if part of the entry has nothing to do with Patrick or Angola.
It has been a long time and my life has gotten completely crazy since I last worked on this blog. I was fired from my job (which is a good thing), hired at two other jobs, quit one and was laid off of another. My husband and I are both in college. I also bought a scanner, so I've got a lot of work to do scanning in all of the documents. Of course, in a move things get turned upside down and I'm going to have to go through everything and sort it all out before I can do anything with it. Fortunately, I do have more time on my hands and better organizational tools for keeping things the way they need to be. So very soon, I'll get back to this blog and fix it up the way I really want it to be. Thanks for your interest in my brother's story.

About this Blog
All information in this blog is true and correct to my knowledge. It is taken directly from letters either from or to Patrick Brasseaux, letters to me from other inmates concerning Patrick, legal documents concerning him, my own personal blog posts about visits with him and letters to him and things I've done for him, and news articles. All spelling and grammatical errors are from the sources I am copying from. He is a real person, Angola is a real place, the crime committed really happened, the letters and documents are real and I physically have them in my possession. None of the names have been changed. Some of the dates were guessed at based on date stamps on envelopes. If you have any information you can add, please let me know. If you are offended by the treatment of inmates documented here, please contact whoever you can think of to effect change. I have contact information for the Warden at LSP and the secretary of the Louisiana Department of Corrections below.
Credits
To give credit where credit is due... the picture of the prison cell on my blog is a full scale model and was built by Jackie Sumell as part of a project showcasing Angola 3 member, Herman "Hooks" Wallace.
